I don't know what kind of price we'll have to pay for this weekend, but whatever it is, it was worth it. I think today might have been a couple of degrees warmer than yesterday and no less sunny. Wind? Who cares?
I'm sure I have not ridden this much in a single weekend in years. Most enjoyable.
I think people in general were a little nicer today. A little more outgoing. Maybe the weather had something to do with it. Everyone I passed either smiled or waved. Some even said hello. That's good, all of it.
I even got a couple of good laughs while out there today. The first was a couple of guys tossing what I thought was a football in one of the parking lots in Rockwood Reservation. As I approached one of them ran out into the road to retrieve it. See, it didn't fly like a football and it didn't bounce like one. When I got there a few seconds later I saw why. Their football was actually an inflated rubber skull.
The second good laugh I got was when I pulled over at the entrance to that same park to let a car get by. The speed limit in the park is 20mph. I was about a half-mile from the park entrance so rather than pull to the side when a car caught up with me I just kept going. When I got there I braked and pulled over. I'd just put a foot down when the car pulled along side.
Great, I thought, This guy plans to read me the riot act for limiting his speeding to only 5 over the limit.
I looked over into the car. There are 2 guys. The driver leans forward and says "Dude, you were speeding back there."
I laughed out loud. All I could think of to say back was some lame comment claiming I didn't know because my computer was broken.
It's been a long time since I had a weekend as good as this one has been. Too bad tomorrow isn't a holiday.
Speeding
I think I caught a 47mph speed coming down Franks Road on Saturday. Did a few burst of speed in the flats, but was saving it all for the climbs. What a great weekend for riding.
