The holiday season is right around the corner, have you started shopping for those special people on your list?
I think I will probably get myself a couple pair of socks this year and call it good (I have not been good enough to warrant much else). There is not much bike stuff I need right now, anyway. That is a good thing too.
It seems that the bike industry, at least in terms of road bikes, has gone stark raving mad. I have no idea what happened, but it seems the price bar has been raised once again. I love cool gear as much as the next guy, but I guess I give pause when I see prices jumping like Mexican beans and no performance gain (supposed or otherwise).
I stumbled upon a nice offering from one of my favorite component manufacturers the other day. It seems that in celebration of their 75th anniversary, they made 75 of these special jerseys and shipped them in giant numbered wooden boxes. If you find one/want one, your better not ask the price.
If you do find one, you will likely be outbid by the guy that plans to wear it while riding this.
That jersey is not on my Christmas list. I am hoping to get something a little more "limited" and functional this year. In my quest to be a cheap-ass, I have started trying to create a little more of my own cycling gear (with help from friends). I have found that I can save even more by creating this stuff from recycled materials. I will keep you posted regarding how well it turns out.
