Will the Real Columbia Please Stand Up

This week was a well-earned rest week. Last week was high volume and high intensity. This week was the complete opposite. Last week was filled with blasting out the quads, while this week was filled with golf, lounging around, and family time. I've slept well and eaten better.

Today, I'll be back on the bike to open up the legs a little and then tomorrow will be a TT to assess my overall fitness. I'm hoping for some good overall results. My goal would be to rip off a speed above 26mph, but a lot of that will be predicated on the winds and the route. I'm contemplating running an out and back route on Levee Road in Columbia, IL. My ideal TT route has been the Columbia Bottoms where we held the Tour of St. Louis TT, but for me to do a 30 minute TT means I have to make 2 turn-arounds. I'd prefer to do only 1.

I've made a couple of adjustments to the TT bike in an attempt to lower my frontal area and we'll see if that has an improved affect on my times or if it's too aggressive for power output. I'm also planning on jumping in the Wednesday night TT series starting next week to further refine the position.

Finally, I'm considering making a run to Columbia, MO and Rhett's Run on Sunday for my first mtb race of the year. Still not sure. My shoulder injury is nagging again and don't think a 2 hour race would do it any good, but I'm itching to see where my fitness is in respect to off-road riding. I'd suspect it's not where I want it to be and perhaps Sunday would be a disappointment.

Regardless, I'm rested up and ready to build it back up so we can tear it back down.

If your wing is not up to par, why risk an injury?

Glad to hear you are back on wheels. We still need to roll together some time. I have been contemplating attending one of the fast paced rides in StL sometime. Any suggestions?

and I really don't have a desire to go there. Just don't know how I'd change my training or riding. Maybe we need to talk.

Yeah, come in for the St. Charles Monday night ride. 30 miles, fast paced (24mph average), sprint finish (if you're at the front.)

Glad you enjoyed break week. Best wishes for a good result on your TT. I've got to get down and ride the levee road in Columbia sometime.
