The local Wednesday Night TT series has never disappointed. It's always been tremendous fun, and last night was no different. In all 23 of us toed the line and took the test of time.
We also braved swarms of little tiny flies. Thankfully they weren't the biting kind. Maybe they were just curious about what we were up to out there on the flats on an otherwise quiet evening. These things hatch this time of year. Last evening must have been their "A" event. They didn't dampen our event though.
By the end of the evening more than a few new PRs had been set. Even our Merckx guys renewed their rivalry with faster times. It's going to be a hotly contested category this year.
I myself had a rather eye-opening result. Despite a very poor start (I missed clipping in not just once, but three times. So PRO!) and powering past the turnaround, I managed a time only 15 seconds slower than my all-time best from 2 years ago.
Interestingly, I did it with 40-50 fewer watts than 2 years ago.
Next week we're hoping for equally good weather, an even larger turnout, and no flies.
