OK, I know that this post has little to do with SS, MTB, or 29er, but hey those are the tags I always use, so why not make it my signature?

I have very little of interest to share here, so you might as well stop reading and go back to your regularly scheduled surfing.
Still here? OK then.
This week I have been too busy to do much except for work, play with the kids, sleep, and train as efficiently as possible. Training efficently works out really well with the crummy weather we have. So I logged about 4.5 hours on the trainer this week and about an hour and a half of strength (core) work. Not bad for a guy who would rather show up to an event under-trained and suffer like a slave than actually train.
I have done some neat workouts too. I have been doing a variation on Bill Black's HOP workout(they talk a bit about Bill's workout in this book)...err sort of. Basically, I put on some good music and at the end of each song I shift from my 39 front ring to my 53, stand up and mash for 60 seconds (or more if I can). Sounds easy, but when your cruising gear has you close to or at threshold, standing and delivering for 60 seconds will really tax you. It keeps things interesting enough to keep me on the bike for upwards to 90 minutes too.
The Strength/Core work is coming along nicely too. I am ramping the weights up steadily, and I think it has to be good to work on stability when your choice of cycling is off-road.
I have not been using any electronics on my bike, so I can not really tell if the training is doing anything or not, but I feel better mentally, and physically for having done it. I guess it would be nice to have a PM, but it really flops in the face of my philosophy for riding a rigid SS....I mean its like painting racing stripes on a turtle...The turtle is just happy to reach the destination. OTOH, The PM sure makes it easy to stay "steady" in your pace.
I digress....
In the spare time I do have, I have been planning, playing, and cleaning my bike. I have ordered up a few little gadgets and such. Let this be my feeble attempt at a teaser of what is to come. I am having fun getting my bike ready to be dirty again. Once it is all clean and assembled, I will take a bunch of pictures and post them up for those of you who want to look at some bling. Not sure how excited you can get about a dressed up Karate Monkey, but I sure am excited to get back outside and start riding again on real trails...some day.
Oh, yeah...the picture? Yeah, just a shameless attempt to get you to spend a little more time on my blog...and NO, My Moots post did not come with a holder like this.
I have got to get me one of those
Suddenly I get the feeling my seatpost is totally, um, inadequate.

Aerobics?
At first I thought this entry was going to discuss the advantages of night time bed aerobics in the off season. But I guess I was wrong!
Not gonna go there....
But it is a good thing in ALL seasons.
