What happened? It was supposed to be a good day for a ride. The weather man said sunny and 80's, but we woke up to clouds and cold. Just about the time Unit rolled into town for a little Castlewood action, it started to rain.
So we rode in the rain. We covered the whole park once over and after some debate made a command decision. Due to our unbelievable on-bike performance, rising hunger levels and lack of food on board, we decided to quit while we were ahead and head for a coffee shop.
Performance wise, I just did not have it today. It was one of those amazing days when absolutely nothing feels right. I had no bike handling skills. I had no legs. And even though my legs couldn't produce much power, my lungs couldn't keep up. Now that I think of it, about the only thing that I could do moderately well today was sit on my bike off the side of the trail and have a conversation.
And speaking of the side of the trail. If you happen to find a Kenda Nevegal knob out there, it might be mine.

I wonder if there will come a day when I've seen and done it all with my tires. I've flatted about every way I know how. I've seen and heard tires fail in way too many ways. I've never see anything like this though. It's a first for me - an entire knob and some of the surrounding tread is completely missing. It's been torn away, leaving the casing exposed.
And because you're wondering... No, it wasn't partly torn off. I didn't remove the flopping knob like so much dead skin. It up and departed all by itself. Go figure.
The knob rejected you...
What you are failing to mention, is the knob next to the void is nearly off as well. You are also failing to mention that you were completely oblivious to these facts until I pointed them out to you.
Congratulations. You pay your bike even less attention than I do mine.
I was going to post up a separate post but why? We will be covering the same topics....

This is what I saw over head this morning as I walked the family dog. The mackerel sky...a sign of rain to come. I should have known...but I am glad that I hopped in the truck and headed your way anyway.
I was not playing my "A" game today, but I sure had fun, and managed to pull off a few moves that I have not been successful at in the past. I also had fun getting some small air here and there. It is always nice to head to the Lou for some riding...different trails are nice.

I wish I had some video of those near death experiences I had today too...they surely were impressive in a horrific way. I was railing down Grotpeter and got sideways....I completely left the trail on the downhill side, but the angels were with me. There was one other time that I can not recall at the moment (I am probably repressing the memory of the traumatic experience). Suffice to say, the fact that I did not get seriously hurt today is success in itself.
