Into the Wall

There was a definite lack of motivation going in to last nights trainer session, but it was the normal sort of hesitation. You know, you don't feel like riding, but once you get on and warm up...it all starts to feel better?

Last night, was different. I guess I should have put more fuel in the tank, and may be I need to get more sleep. I dunno but something was horribly wrong.

Every minute ticked off as if it was an hour, and a riding in a moderate gear felt as if I was racing up Mont Ventoux with a 40 pound bag on my back.

The result was I cut the effort short to only 45 minutes. There seemed to be little point in suffering more than I should. Sometimes you just have to listen to your body...mine was telling me that I had hit the wall, and there was no way I was going to climb over it.

I used the extra time to hang some more crap on my wall in front of my training area. Hopefully it will provide the motivation I need in the future.

I also went to a small celebration last night. We celebrated my Dad's Birthday, Valentines Day, and my sister being over a big hump in terms of recovery from a major accident (all the steel came out of her mouth from where her jaw was wired). She seemed pretty stoked to be eating real food again. Watching that, things came into perspective pretty quickly...we are all lucky to be able to suffer a horrible ride on a trainer once in a while.

Have a great weekend, and get on your bike!
