Taking things for granted...

Yeah, so I went for this bike ride yesterday. I think we may have set a few records....

The hottest day of the year? Probably. I saw one bank with 109 degrees posted. I do not know the official temp, but it was really hot.

The most downed trees and sticks on a single ride? Probably. Between the long dry spell making everything dry and brittle and the 60+ MPH winds that came ripping through the other night, there was a lot of limbs, trees, and sticks laying on the trail.

The best find of the year for me personally? Probably. I found a set of polarized glasses on the roadside between trails. These appear to be some really nice glasses. I feel bad for whoever lost them, but I have no idea how I could possibly find their rightful owner....I guess I could hang out in the heat and wait for someone to come looking for them...unlikely.

Anyway, the ride was great, but hot. I had some good hops last night clearing some downed wood. Lots of fun!

When I got home, it was really apparent that it is time to stop taking some things for granted....My AC was not working. If you have not had your system checked out lately, call and have it checked today...coming home to a house that is 87 degrees and rising is not the time to start thinking about preventative maintenance...especially when you have an infant. It could be worse...At least my pipes will not freeze!

Be safe, be thankful, and stay hydrated!

follow up...

Turns out that my AC was no big deal...a couple of blown fuses inside the electrical box outside. They blew because the unit overheated (the AC, not me) due to debris stuck in the cooling fins.

All COMPLETELY avoidable if I had done or contracted for the routine annual maintenance/inspection.

Anyone see a pattern here? (think broken chains)
