It has been a while, so I thought that I would be a good idea to post up regarding the Badger build. I did not want anyone to think that I quit posting up or anything...It is just at a stage of the game where not much is happening (due to other bikes in front of me in line).
We have been discussing parts that need to be purchased...It is really easy to forget some basics...I am going to need a longer chain for example...perhaps the cables will need to be a bit longer...gotta have a new crown race for my headset...what else?
Luckily, Rob has a very well stocked shop and probably has everything 30 times over to accommodate whatever I forget...but just the same, I want to get as much groundwork covered as possible.
As far as the build goes: The tubes came in (you may recall I posted up some pics), but upon final inspection prior to making any cuts or miters, one tube did not quite measure up. Man that kind of sucks. It will delay the build a few days while another tube is ordered. Oh well. As I told him, I would rather have it right, than right now....and I know that he is not about to cut any corners.
We also discussed our trip back to the Badger shop when the frame and fork are completed. We are planning to build the bike (and strip the Monkey), and then go for a ride. I know I am looking forward to that! I say "our" trip because the plan is to take 2-old along for a shop visit, and a ride...this will be the first of several road trips I plan to make this year with 2-old....and this new bike!

Let me know...
when you all are going down to go ride. I'd at least be game to go on the ride with you, I'm not far away and I've been wanting to hit the trails up around there. Be patient! I know this is tearing at you, but just think, you're gonna be strapped to this bike for the whole rest of the year and many many more to come. Makes these next few weeks seem not so bad...
Oh, Yeah.
I am not in any huge hurry. Having this thing right and tight is the most important thing. Once it goes to paint, it is going to take a while too...especially if we do something interesting.
It is going to be something special...Rob will not put his name on anything less. That is the reason I went this route in the first place. If I wanted quick and easy, I would have simply bought off the shelf.
We missed you on the club ride last night. It was a great ride...you should have been there.

I would have loved to
But with me living in the Burg now, I'm not ever in town. But wait, there is hope. I'm starting to work in Columbia Wednesdays and Thursdays so we need to start to set up a scheduled ride. Either Wednesday night anytime after 5 or Thursday night after 6 30. What time did you all ride? What do you think?
I get to go?
Cool. I'm down with that. 'Specially if we get in a ride while we're there.
Just let me know when.
You are there dude.
I know you want to go...after you sat through over an hour of me yapping about how neat the place was...and did not complain. I have no idea how long it is going to take to finish this build...figure 3 weeks for paint after he builds the frame. Hopefully the tube will arrive early next week?
Anyway, when I get the call from Rob that it is done (in about a month) we will plan a weekend. Get up there early on a Friday, build my bike, hit the trails...figure out the rest from there. G lives in the area, so I am sure he will meet up with us for the ride...may be we can grab a room in Lawrence and ride a second day? The trails over there are really cool.
I am getting acting the fool pondering details like brake cable length these days....flooding and rain can drive a boy crazy don't you know.
