The weather here was really special today. We had gusting wind and thunder, but temps were perfect for riding. I finally got off my sulking butt and headed out for a road cruise on the Monkey.
I figured that I was not going to do any damage to the frame by riding on the road. It was a good idea...this ride was a lot of fun.
The wind was interesting, and we had scattered showers...but they were the kind that a couple enormous drops of water would hit you and then it would stop. I never got wet, and it was refreshing.
This bike is great. I am stoked about getting it patched so I can continue riding it. I will eventually convert it to a gravel road/Katy trail/commuter/coffee shop cruiser bike...basically everything it does now--minus the trail and urban abuse.
I may even convert it to a fixed gear...I have always wanted to try riding a fixed repaired Monkey.
Fiksie!
Fixies rule, duderonomie!
You gotto go there. It's the only way to commute.
and you need a messenger bag
Yes, agreed.
I have been wanting to try one for a long time now...ever since I saw that person complete the Ouachita Challenge on one, I have wanted to try one on the trails.
Interresting choice of words...very nice!
I think I will pass on the messenger bag though...just one more thing to have to remember as I head out the door. Might even go with simple toe clips too...so I can just hop on with whatever shoes I have on at the time.
Is this fixed gear thing a
Is this fixed gear thing a religion or something?
Religious experience maybe?
Cycling is, all by itself. Must be a separate sect.
Oh, yeah...
I would imagine so. Anytime that you head down a steep rocky section with a direct drive transmission, and you are trying to keep balance and minimize pedal strikes...I would say you gotta be close to God.
