Looks like it is official.

There will be a 100 mile option next year for the Ouachita Challenge and the race date is scheduled for 4-1-2007 (the 60 mile supported tour is 3-31-2007). No, this is not a joke, or April fool.

The pilot (100 mile option) test will be open to only 100 racers, but the 60 mile option will be open to an additional 200. That is a total of 300 racers folks! This is gonna be great! Better start doing some longer rides.

Kenny Davis had this to say on some of the Endurance racing forums:

Good news folks!
The Forest Service has agreed to the 100 mile course. The course has been laid out. We take the course maps to the Forest Service tomorrow for the scoping letter if all goes well with that we will have a 100 miler. Remember we are only doing this as a pilot event for '07. We will limit the 100 miler to 100 riders. This will not effect the numbers for the 60 miler as the Forest Service has allowed us to up our numbers to 300 for Sunday. We are going to look for folks who have done endurance events so that we can get their feedback on the course once it is over. If all goes well we will open the 100 miler up to more people for both a Saturday Tour and a Sunday race. We should have the event web site up and running soon so you can check it out at the Ouachita Challenge web site

As of this typing, the link is not up, but it should be soon.
