I have reported several times about my Jeff Jones H-Bar. It is a neat product and really changes the way a bike rides and handles. I got mine about 2 years ago and punished them regularly. They really have been a great product and are truly unique.

So a month or so ago, I got a letter in the mail from Jeff. Apparently some of these things have broken, and he felt the need to offer to inspect mine (and probably every other pair he ever sold...I assume). Here is a copy of the letter:

I doubt that you can read the print on this scan, but basically it says, "send me your bars so I can check them out for you". So I did. I should also mention that the bars were creaking under load and I was afraid that there might be a crack or something.
Jeff called me back the other day to report that in spite of my thoughts and fears, my bars are fine. He does however recommend that I switch to an over sized stem clamp and use the new shims that he is sending my way. I guess they distribute the load over a larger area and are less prone to result in distortion of the bar.
I was quite impressed that he has such attention to detail, and offers this level of customer service. Plus, it was cool to talk to him about riding and some of the new stuff that he is working on. He is offering some really radical bikes now (not that his old designs were plain or anything).
Why did I post this? I dunno. Jeff seems like a pretty nice guy, and if you have a set of these bars that you did not buy directly from Jeff, you might not have received this letter. Further, if you have been riding hard on your H-bars, it is probably a good idea to send them home for a little look-see.
