Uninspired

I just sort of didn't feel like riding much today.

You know how it is. You think all day long about what sort of workout to do - that is, if you are your own coach - and when it finally comes time to do a workout you have nothing in mind.

When that happens to me I usually just go ahead and start riding and see what comes to me. Most times a warm up is all it takes to inspire me for whatever workout I should do on that day.

That didn't happen to me today. I basically just rode around. I'll chalk it up to base / sweet spot training.

This time of year you can't get too much of that good old sweet spot stuff.

That is probably...

That is probably what my workouts look like a lot of the time. I figure if I can manage to get on the bike and ride on the trainer for a while, I am accomplishing something.

Any riding is better than no riding.

Yeah I probably should have

Yeah I probably should have put a more positive spin on things. When I got off the bike I felt a mix of accomplishment for having persevered through indifference and for having ridden at all. I might have focused on that. At the time, however, I couldn't help but beat myself up a bit for not being able to come up with a specific goal for the workout.

Note to self, the important thing to remember is this: Any riding is good riding. And sometimes "just riding" is goal enough.
