I really have little to say about the ride today. It was the first outdoor ride in well over a week. I have been dealing with issues (allergies, flu, moving, and every imaginable complication at work) that have prevented me from riding.

Today was bittersweet. While I did get to ride outside under blue sky and wonderful conditions, I had very little form to draw on. A poor performance in the saddle was not aided by the hornet that flew into my jersey and proceeded to sting me four times.
The good news is that by the time I got home, the funk was almost out of my legs, the frustrations were out of my head, and the toxins were nearly completely flushed from the sting sites on my chest. There is good in everything...especially when it is on two wheels.
once and for all
Lots of stuff flying around out there these days. I had several of them bounce off my face today. Every time it happens I wonder if it'll be an angry one.
Funny thing is, when it happens the reflex is to try to let it out when one quick blow will fix the offending insect once and for all.
I hesitate to report
I felt this thing in my jersey crawling around (no idea when it flew in) so my first instinct was horror/panic and I slapped my chest really hard. Unfortunately it was only hard enough to hurt me and initiate the stinging fury.
Sometimes showing some love and setting it free is the best option. Just the same I gave him a hearty flick to get him started in flight just as he stung me the last time.
