Two totally different items that are somehow related:
Photo number one: An image that I rarely (never) seem to see when I am out riding. While I would not mind encountering this sight once in a while on the roll, I am sure it results in the rider becoming quite sore in certain areas.
Photo number two: An image I captured during the State Time Trial last Sunday. This poor chap on a nice Trek apparently had a seat binder failure resulting in...well... suffering, I am sure.
He took off from the start looking quite strong, I managed to capture a few images of him each one seemed to have the saddle at progressively lower position. It was bottomed out by the turn around, and he hammered all the way to the finish with it on the binder.
While many suffered harshly during the race (due to heat and wind conditions), I think this guy looked the *most* miserable out on the course...though some people may have passed him in the "looking beat" category back in the warm up/cool down area.
I have little to tell him (whoever he is) other than:
That is some bad luck,
You looked strong at the start, and
Massive props for finishing quite strongly in spite of the obstacle presented to you!
Thong
You know, I think the guy on the trek was wearing a thong too. :)
Too funny. The guy on the Trek was my minute man. I don't think I would have caught him but for his seat binder bolt problem. As I caught and passed him he shouted out something which I took to be words of encouragement. Maybe he was asking me if I had a hex key.
(No, I most certainly did not!)
Yeah
The last time I passed him, he looked like he really wanted to call it a day. I had no place to carry his bike on the vehicle, but I still lingered about a 100 meters in front of him to see if he would wave me down.
I could follow her wheel
all day long
It's a safety thing
Same here. Did you notice she's not wearing a helmet? I'd be concerned for her safety so it only makes sense to keep her in sight.
