Another confession from the pro peloton. Floyd Landis is the latest soldier to fall on his sword, but not before he swung at some of his comrades. Shocking? Not really, just the final nail in the coffin of professional cycling as far as I'm concerned.
I'm convinced the entire pack of needle-jammers have been reading their own words for so long they wouldn't know reality if it half-wheeled them into the ditch. I'm tired of hearing the stories, the excuses, and the feigned anger from the well-respected names. I won't argue the points because that would just bring more attention to the pack of dopeheads, nor will I apologize for hurting anyone's feelings. As a group they chosen their path and they can pedal along it in blissful ignorance and arrogance towards anyone who challenges their results.
If taking drugs is so important to them, let them ingest, apply, and inject all of it. Limit the bike's weigh, but add a syringe holder for the longer stages. Ban the radios, but allow the team cars to give their riders a shot in the hip when they fall off the back. Just don't ask me to pick up the tab for all the lies they continue to sell.
I guess I am gulible...
I always thought that Landis was one of the wrongly accused ones and wanted to believe that he was clean. What a bummer.
What kind of a mindset does
What kind of a mindset does it take to know you are lying and yet embark on a two year long crusade writing books, and spending millions to declare your innocence?
I guess its not as hard to get there as one might imagine, a moment of denial and once past that, retraction becomes more difficult and bluster easier. But surely before falling asleep at night, he often had to think himself a fool.
