OK you wanted to see it. So here it is, a short video of yours truly riding my Cervelo TT bike on my rollers.
I seriously thought this was going to be one mean accomplishment. I was counting on spending an hour or so trying to remain upright. My thinking was, it's a skill to try and learn and it sure can't hurt to at least make the attempt. Worst case, I fall off and break something.
With 4-5 months 'til spring, what better time to fart around with roller tricks? And besides, if I could by some miracle actually ride my timetrial bike on rollers, that would have to be good for bike handling at the very least.
no aero helmet??
I thought you'd be safer than that! Actually, I'm impressed.
Dorky Enough
Hey I'm enough of a dork just posting a video of myself riding my timetrial bike on rollers, don't you think? :)
Then again, a helmet on top of all that might be just what this shot needs.
Helmets on rollers
Great job there. I used to do much of my interval training on rollers and they are awesome if still boring. I use the Tacx Fortius VR trainer now and hope my skills won't deteriorate too much.
I had a client who wanted to see how long he could keep his eyes closed while on the rollers. Well, you know what happened, and he started wearing a helmet after that because his crash was so nasty.
I was laughing so hard I have to admit I wasn't much help.
Thanks for sharing.
Me too!
I love testing my skills on rollers. I tried the eyes shut thing too and found out quickly that it is tougher than it sounds.
Front wheel location
Where is your front wheel centered compared to the axis of the front roller?
I've thought about moving my front roller forward to try to gain enough stability to ride a TT bike on there. If I could do it, it would certainly make the time go by faster...
front wheel
yeah it looks like his front wheel is going to go off the front of that roller
optical thingy
I noticed that too. It looks like my front wheel is ahead of the front roller. That's just an optical illusion. You never want to run on rollers with your front wheel hanging over the front of the roller. If you don't believe me, try it once. :)
My front wheel is just about perfectly centered on top of the roller. That was a happy coincidence. My TT bike and my road bike have nearly the same wheelbase. Pretty cool, because I don't have to reconfigure my rollers to ride whichever bike.
