Tight schedule/roller stunts

Things are positively insane for me during this time of year. Sometimes it seems I have to block off time on my schedule if I want to take a dump in the morning. Seriously though, between the cold and flu season, shorter days, busy kids, and whatever else I am forgetting, riding time is short.

Last weekend I got out for some great long rides and did battle with the cold winds (the wind was quite fierce). Yesterday, I only had to hop on the rollers for some sweating. I was basically avoiding the high traffic flow, heavy winds, and cold temps.

I was actually enjoying the session while listening to some good tunes. I decided to play around a bit and try some silly stunts on the rollers. I have a few skills in my bag (nothing to brag about, but enough to feel pride), but I learned one roller stunt that I will not be attempting again soon.

I was cranking along gaining a high sense of confidence when I started to get a little bored. Perhaps it was the song that came up on the rotation. May be it was the point in the workout where I should have thrown in some variety. Anyway, I got bored and for some reason closed my eyes in much the same way I used to do amid a hard interval on my fluid trainer.

Suffice to say, visual feedback is very important on rollers.

I have seen a few videos of various roller stunts posted up, but you do not seem many were a rider performs blindfolded. I think I know why now.

I need to build some of these. Think of it as a set of rollers for the MTBer that wants to keep his skills sharp!

I really appreciate the failed attempts in the beginning.

This guy has some skills.
