The things you see in spring

I just got in from a 2 hour solo ride myself. Weather was hot working the climbs and cold descending. On average, just about right. Haven't looked at my power file yet but that's not all that important right now. Not as important as getting around some healthy post ride food. Something with chicken and avocado I think.

Today was one of those days when I didn't know for sure if I should ride. I didn't feel bad, exactly; but I didn't feel all that great either. All the same, the forecasters predicted clouds and temperatures in the mid-60's. I didn't want to let this one get away.

In the end I logged a little over 2 hours of saddle time. Funny how riding solo, and not riding all that hard at that, can leave you as tired as a group ride twice as long. Checking power, it looks like my year is coming along just fine. Average power was just about 93% of FTP. It might be about time for another FTP test.

As the title says, I got to witness one of the sights of spring out there today. Just as I rounded a corner coming down a slight grade. As the road ahead came into view I saw a car headed my way in the other lane. As he passed by the sight of a bird flapping and flopping in the roadway caught my eye.

How sad, I thought, that the little bird had been hit by the car. But as I got closer one little bird flew off. Then another a second or so behind. I guess she'd needed an extra second or two to collect herself. Now I can't get that Beatles song out of my head.

Why don't we do it in the road
Why don't we do it in the road
Why don't we do it in the road
Why don't we do it in the road
No one will be watching us
Why don't we do it in the road

Ah, the White Album. Might have to pull that one out tonight and give it a listen.

I thought you were going to say

I thought you were gonna say that you saw some people in the car bumping uglies.

I saw something like that out at Binder once when I was riding. They were on the trail and luckily they had not started gettin' busy yet (two guys).

Glad you had a good ride. Even better that your progressing your FTP as planned. Getting stronger is good.

Geez, Unit, that mental image is too strong for a Monday (or any day for that matter!)
