The Grass is Greener

The Tour of St. Louis kicks off today! Unfortunately, this year I am about as interested in racing as I am paying taxes. Sorry race fans, racing is great and I love to talk tactics, but I am just not feeling like competing this year.

I am however very interested in enjoying life, and I did a nice bit of that today. I went out for a little ride (solo) and not once did I feel like I wanted to be anywhere else. That is saying something, because lately I have been torn. It seems that I have been suffering from the grass-is-greener-over-there complex (every ride involves me daydreaming about things other than riding). It makes concentration difficult and training impossible.

Not so much today! I enjoyed the ride for what it was, and in the way every ride should be enjoyed.

Rather than sprinting off the line to race traffic from every stop, attacking every hill, or railing every descent--I simply rode and enjoyed.

I hope to hear/see results posted up soon for todays stage of the Tour.

Wise Words

Great thoughts here Unit. I'm with you all the way. But I haven't been staying away from the race track completely. Just check out the first laps on the track in my basement!
