I think I mentioned a week or three ago I was going to test FTP. Time does fly. Yes that was a while ago and I still have not performed an actual test.
Last night, however, I did something nearly as good as a test.
What with training being testing and testing being training and all, and yesterday's workout being 2x 30 minute intervals with barely a break between, I figured that made for a decent pseudo-test.
Pseudo-test, because yesterday's workout compares favorably with a similar workout done in the spring before my operation. My logic here goes like this: If I can do a 2x30 interval workout today at the same wattage as a 2x30 interval workout I did in March, then my FTP must at least be as high as it was in March.
Talk about testing by proxy. If there ever was such a thing, this is it. But hey, it's October. I have a whole winter ahead to actually do that FTP test.
