Well, here I am at the end of my first decent cycling week of 2008. I have to figure out what to do with myself before the party that starts later. Not sure why we have this party...I think it is something to do with a bunch of commercials periodically interrupted by some bastardized version of rugby (a.k.a. the Super Bowl...can I say that without getting sued for not having explicit written consent?)

So, what is it that I have got to get done before everyone starts showing up?

The last day or so has seen some real highs and a couple of lows. At least I can say it's been exciting.

Unit came to town yesterday to pay me a long overdue visit. The occasion was the January Castlewood night ride. That was a definite high point, having Unit over and planning to get out for a ride.

Does anyone know who these happy people are? With all the people who visit this site every month/week/day, I'm betting one or more of you knows. Probably more than a few.

Want a hint? OK. One of the two people in the photo is an ultra-endurance bicycle racer. Among her many accomplishments is a RAAM finish. I can't imagine even attempting a cross-country bike race, much less finishing one. Now I can say I know someone who actually did one - finish a RAAM.

I just wanted to point out a new comment that just came in on my old "Trying to get in touch with Rob Pennell at Badger Cycles" post. Frank just posted a comment that he has received his road frame originally ordered in March.

I don't understand what's going on at Badger Cycles. I can't seem to get a return call or email from Rob Pennell of Badger Cycles. Unfortunately the same is true of the only other Badger Cycles employee I know of, Josh Patterson.

What's going on, guys?

I've been trying unsuccessfully for quite some time now to get in touch with either Rob Pennell or Josh Patterson of Badger Cycles. I'm very frustrated because they do not return phone calls or email.

Look what showed up today!

Much to my surprise my old Jones bars showed up today with a new set of shims, fresh stickers, and new plugs in the bar ends. The old stickers got all scratched up long ago, and the bar plugs fell out during crash events over the past few years. Yes these bars were abused well, so I sent them home to Jeff for a little inspection and such. While they were there, I guess he decided to clean them up a bit.

They look like new bars.
