On Target?

Yesterday was interesting in more ways that one. I will keep it pertinent by only discussing the bike stuff.

I pulled out the trainer due to rain outside. I was committed to my training plan, and the long intervals I wanted to get done. Not having a power meter for the past few years meant that I needed to ride based on perceived exertion, and use speed data to hold steady.

I will spare you the details. Suffice to say these long intervals hurt just as much as I recall (may be more...yes they hurt MORE than I previously recalled). Based on the pain, I can tell you that I did some good work. There is a certain satisfaction a guy feels after completing a workout like this.

I think I am right on target and that is a great feeling. On target in terms of having a decent mental gauge for threshold (I guessed it fairly closely at the TT a couple weeks back, and I guessed it dead on last night). I think I might also be on target in terms of actual power production, though it is all guess work at this point. When I compare the speed of my intervals to the speed vs. power chart that Kurt posts for my trainer I see that I am about where I want to be!
