Taking on water

Yesterday was no big deal, a little recovery spin and some core work (abs and such). I really had no intentions of posting a story about my workouts today, but for some reason last night my quads were a little sore and really bloated.

I have been riding and training off and on for more than a few years, but I have never experienced what I saw last night. My quads were swollen and lumpy like I had worked them to the point of collapse. They looked like the legs of an overweight woman. I had minor soreness that also raised a brow (I have done NOTHING above tempo in several days and my training volume has been down).

I have been reviewing my diet and training lately, but I am not finding any glaring explanation for what I am experiencing. I was planning on taking several recovery/cardio paced days anyway.
