The sun poked through the clouds this afternoon. Intermittently. I bet in total we didn't get a half hour of sunshine. What we got really felt good though. Today was the tweener day, the only opportunity this week. Yesterday was rain. Tomorrow and the rest of the week have nothing but rain in the forecast. You know I had to get out for a ride.
I put in about 30 miles in a little under 2 hours. The hills slowed me down some. The wind slowed me down quite a bit. In all it amounted to 120 TSS for the day. Not bad, considering at the 20 minute point I was pretty sure I wouldn't make an hour.
I was a little cold, a little tired and a little hungry shortly after beginning. Maybe it was my rush to get out the door. I'd worn one layer too few and I'd not brought along anything to eat. By the 1 hour mark I was feeling pretty good. My legs had started working well. I wasn't so hungry. I was still cold. Two out of three.
Would you like to see what an unsuccessful chase in progress looks like? Have a look at these 2008 Hillsboro-Roubaix road race photos. The guy third row down and third column over never figured out that he'd never catch the group of 13 riders just up the road. He just kept trying until he blew up.
He got a better workout than the other 13 though.
