Just like old times/Chunking on a group ride

My buddy Joe has been refurbishing a home for about 7 weeks. It is a big project, so we have not ridden together since that project started (and took over his life). I guess it is nearly done because he called me for a ride like we used to do every Sunday morning.

Nothing too exciting to report, just a nice loop that included Highpoint Road which got resurfaced AGAIN.

Build Up, Tear Down

This past week was a tough one. Not tough from the training perspective, but tough on the mind. It started 1 week ago when I joined the Monday night ride in St. Charles and promptly got dropped 10 miles in the 30 mile ride. That pop of the cork left me to TT for 20 miles at a pace north of 20mph and served as the first slice of humble pie.

I Love it When a Plan Comes Together

Last night, my training plan called for riding 1h30m with 45 mins of TT effort just below threshold. Instead of following that plan, I opted to jump into the St. Charles (Momentum) ride. This is a 30+ mile route that when run uber fast is completed in roughly 1h14m. Last night, the ride was done in 1h16m. I was done in 1h25m.
