I think this tops the list right now as the "most expensive bike". Entirely gold plated and encrusted with jewels. I suppose the Brooks saddle is a little "cheap" ...Guess I will have to order the one in the last three photos.

My big bicycle activities today centered around the bikes I have not been riding. I've amassed quite a collection of bikes and bike parts over these four or so years I've been in this sport. Today I decided to take stock and take a little action.
I stripped down my Bianchi today. I haven't ridden it in months and I didn't see that changing, so I'm putting the frame and components up for sale. If you want a good deal on calipers, 9-speed levers, derailleurs or an SRM crank let me know.
Oh, and one beautiful but slightly worn Celeste Bianchi Reparto Corse frame and fork. If I don't hang her on the wall as art, that is.

I think it's finally ready to go. I've been wrenching on this bike for weeks. I think I know the size of every fastener holding it together. Few of them have escaped being tweaked since I took delivery. This morning I made what I hope will be that one final adjustment. The one.
You know what I mean when I say "the one". It's the adjustment that puts the bike into that sweet groove where power and comfort are maximized, and aeodynamic drag forces are minimized.
Non-believers say it doesn't exist. They say the best you can hope for is a compromise among power, comfort and aero. They say optimizing all three can't be done. Timetrial racers are true believers. It's what keeps us in the market for new bikes and aero gear.

I have not posted up much lately. I could post up and tell everyone what I have been doing, but that just does not seem interesting to me.
Do you really want to hear about the gears and shifters I just put back on my road bike? How about me using them to ride my rollers? Want to hear about the core exercises I have been doing? Or may be the cross training I have been doing getting pummeled by my kids? Perhaps the sledding sessions we have had in the yard with the snow we got over the weekend?
These topics may be somewhat interesting, but I really want to post up about something cool and inspiring. Unfortunately I have nothing new to post. I have some things in the works, but they are pipe dreams at this point.

It is almost done! (It still need a rear caliper).

Today I took the family out to the pumpkin festival and had a lot of fun. Basically my wife and I wore the kids out with October fun. When we got home, the kids took a rest and I headed to the garage to build.
It was a good thing I did too, because my bikes were in need of some maintenance. The front brakes on my MTB were SHOT! I installed a new set of pads and got started on re-building the bike that made me passionate about MTB riding.

Some days the water just seems a whole lot less deep than I remember...

I refer to the water being deep when I talk about the talent pool in the world of cycling. I realize that my skill level is a veritable "small fish" in the talent pool, but today I felt like a bigger fish than usual. The water is still deep, but I seemed to have a better command of the bike than usual.
