It's starting to heat up really well out there now. Yesterday I managed to get out for a little while late in the afternoon. Despite my consumption of 2 big bottles of advanced hydration formula I had to dial it back after about an hour of hard tempo.
That ended this little training block. Today's all about rest and recovery. Something on the order of 30-50 TSS should do it.
That should leave some time open today to do a little necessary maintenance. My Eriksen's in need of a little TLC. I brought home quite a bit of road grime on Sunday's ride with Andy. We avoided the storm but we did get rained on enough to get a little messy.

Really, it is more of a to-done list at this point but I thought I would continue the Sunday theme I started last week...
1. Lube/clean my SS MTB (since I abused it the past two days riding in freezing rain)....Done.
2. Core lifting/training....Done. Man, that sucked. It hurt the whole time. I amped up the reps during each set...and suffered miserably. My lungs were limiting me big time.
3. Laundry, cleaning, and vacuuming the house (every Sunday)...in progress.

Remember that one? Todd Rundgren? Good stuff. I've been thinking about that word a lot lately. I've been trying to come up with just the right word to describe the sound my rear hub made recently.
I was bombing down a short and very steep pitch, one that you can only pedal so long on because even in your top gear you spin out in about 4 seconds. As soon as I stopped pedaling I heard this awful screaming sound coming from somewhere under me. By the way the upper section of chain was hanging I knew it had to be something in the rear hub. The noise it made sent a chill right through me.
At first I was just startled. A split second later I got a flash of what might happen if the hub locked up on me at 40+mph. The chill turned to outright fright.

Trail report: Greensfelder is in awesome shape. A little dusty in places, but I'll gladly take a little dust in exchange for hard trails the ponies can't tear up. Yesterday it was hot and fast out there.
It was also infested with little bugs. Don't go into the woods without your protection.
Oh, and bring an extra master link too. In case you happen to break your chain.

Where to start?
Yesterday, I went up to visit 2-old for a little auto crossing, and a little bike riding.

I stepped out to get the mail this afternoon and could not believe how warm it felt. There's rain in the forecast, so even though I didn't really feel up to a workout I saddled up anyway.
You know the logic. The weather's half way decent today and it's supposed to turn to crap by tomorrow. I feel like crap today but I'll probably feel good and want a nice ride tomorrow. I do prefer not to ride in cold and rain. If I pass on riding today and feel like ripping it up tomorrow it'll be a helluva trainer session. If I go and ride today despite how I feel ant tomorrow's an off day then who cares, the weather's crap.
Front derailleur cable all repaired and ready to rock, I headed out for a quick jaunt on rolling terrain. For my efforts I got more of the same as yesterday. My legs just didn't have much snap to them. Even the little climbs brought the pain. Try as I might, I couldn't push it to the point where I was actually breathing hard.
My body was screaming something about needing food at just over an hour of this nonsense so I pointed the front wheel towards the refrigerator. I think it's time for a rest.
Tomorrow's supposed to be rain.
