The last day or so has seen some real highs and a couple of lows. At least I can say it's been exciting.
Unit came to town yesterday to pay me a long overdue visit. The occasion was the January Castlewood night ride. That was a definite high point, having Unit over and planning to get out for a ride.
Even the weather was cooperating some. As the sun set Friday afternoon the thermometer said it was only 30° cold. That's something like 20° better than it has been lately. Another good thing.
We got a bite to eat and headed for the trails. Strange night for me. I had it all together for about 15 minutes. I had good legs, good lungs and in the few times my wheels didn't follow the best lines they seemed to just float over the bad stuff. Too bad it only lasted about 15 minutes. When it all came undone I could barely keep my bike on the trail. My legs were on fire. My lungs couldn't keep up with the demand. At least I was having fun.
That is until the yard sale. I don't mind falling down every once in a while, but I hate going over the bars onto rock and frozen ground. I got banged up pretty good so we called it a night after just short of 2 hours' riding and headed out for beer and hot wings. Another high point.
Today's plan called for some road miles. It was also my new bike's first outing. I have to tell you, if you're ever in the market for an exceptional bike, I recommend Eriksen. It's a dream to ride.
Anyway I found out right quick my little bash up the night before was going to hold me back big time today. I could cruise along easy, but making watts made hurts in odd places. That was a low, the hurts. The new bike's a definite high. That it climbs better than I can, well that's just a given.

I couldn't resist uploading just one of the seat tube cluster.
Nice!
Nice looking bike.
When are you going to learn to stay off the MTB? I'm tellin' ya, it's bad for your health!
Ha ha
Choose your words wisely around here... I say to you that MTBing is OBVIOUSLY better than road riding... I mean you can't get run over on the trail, unless your riding with me ; ) Everyone has their personal choice but you put a road in front of me and a trail behind me and I'm turning around! I do spend my fair share of riding time on the road, but only for training, never for pleasure... And everyone knows MTB is so much better for your health... Okay, I may be stretching that one but I threw it out there just to start some shit
Good Times!
Not sure which climb that picture was from...I tried to get a bunch..hopefully some were good.
That bike is a peach for certain. One seriously nice (and nicely built) frame with some very well thought out components. Anyone would be hard pressed to produce a nicer road machine. You have really created something nice there, and it seems to suit you well.
It was a nice vacation to get out and ride with you. I am way out of shape, but I had enough to enjoy the rides.
As far as the MTB goes...I have a feeling that you will be doing a fair amount of that in the near future too (wink wink). Those things are great for building bone density!
