Shake down TT

Friday, I took the TT rig to Columbia Bottoms to do a TT for a gauge of fitness and to shake down the bike from the recent build-up. The weather was really nice with the exception of the steady NE wind that was coming through the flats at 15-20mph. I had to get in a 30 min TT, so the plan was to start at the beginning of the park and do a down-back-down route. This worked well and produced some stiff crosswinds early on the down route and a great deal of cross and headwinds on the back route.

While the route worked well, the bike was less than stellar for me. Let me say, it was certainly aero and performed quite well, it was the fit that just didn't leave me in a good place. As a result, I could never get comfortable in the aero position and felt that I was either shoved too far forward or too far back in the cockpit. I'll tweak the bike over the next two weeks and get it dialed in for Hermann.

Overall, my numbers were good considering the length and wind conditions and I actually think I ran it faster than I did in the Tour of St. Louis last year. If that's the case, that could bode well for my return trip in 3 weeks.
