Saturday morning surfing

I'm trying to figure out what to do with this snow we're getting here. So far we have about 2" on the ground with more coming all the time.

There is a possibility of a snowy trail ride this afternoon. Could be fun. The woods are always a few degrees warmer. My only concern is whether the temperatures have been warm enough to melt the trails.

Another possibility is another ordinary trainer session. Yeah, that's got me stoked. It's got me thinking about rollers though. I think I go through this every year about this time. The trainer gets boring and rollers start sounding interesting. So far I've managed to get through it without actually going out and buying rollers though. Resist the urge.

The possibility I've been going with so far is the sit around option. I've been catching up on email and ... Ah hell. I've been surfing the internet.

Here's a few choice nuggets I've turned up:

Watch this and tell me you don't identify with it in some way.

Yeah, I thought so. Now, here's one sure to turn you into a CX'er. It's a helmet cam video shot by Jim Gentes of Soquel, Calif in the Mens 40+ B race.

Did you notice Jim's bike is SRM equipped? I'd like to see his power file from the race.

And finally, and Unit gets credit for this; it's a MTB that's been turned into a downhill snow ski something-or-other. What do you think about this? Obviously it won't play anywhere but on the side of a mountain. You could downhill on it on some of our trails - maybe today even. That is until you augured in on the first rock or root. Not that I'm down with this, but I have to say, if it had a motor... Then it would be a slick cross between a snowmobile and a bike.

No Thanks...

I hate to be negative, but that CX race looks about as fun as digging ditches. It looks as if a set of 2.5 beach cruiser tires might be just the ticket for that course.

Do not buy rollers. Use mine for a while first. If you still are longing to own a set after a month or two...then buy some.

Seemed lonely

I gotta admit the CX video was an eye-opener. I didn't expect it to seem so lonely. There were a bunch of riders registered for that race so I thought there would be more of a crowd. I guess it got rather strung out near the end.

Not too many fans either. That'll probably change this weekend.
