Sorry to report that my life in cross training is in full swing. A whole lot of limiters have relegated me to augment most of my on bike training with cross training...it is better than nothing I guess.
Running stairs refers to the actual off-bike training I have been doing. My sons keep me busy and I am not about to limit my time with them, so I substitute riding time for family time and make the most of it. Drew is a budding champion wrestler, so I join him at practice and get a lot of strength training from it. Whether we are running stairs or doing electric chairs, it is stressing the heck out of my quads...that has to be good for something!
Eating squares deals with a slightly heavier concentration on the diet. Less saddle time means less calories burned...ergo less calories need to be consumed. I gotta cut back on the junk and keep the meals balanced and sensible.
Splitting hairs is a reference to the mental focus I seem to need. I gotta have my mental "me" time to stay sane. Usually the structure of a solid workout/mental suffering leaves me mentally drained and fills the need. Some guys do puzzles, video games, or read books to mentally unwind. These things never worked as well for me as grinding away in the saddle. Sadly I have less saddle grinding time available in my schedule, and running around like good parents do only makes the need for mental wind-down greater. I think I may have found the hobby I need LOL!
I'm going a little stir crazy
I'm going a little stir crazy myself! Fortunately, the mild climate in south Carolina allows me more time to train outdoors. Enjoying your blog Ken!
