Resting up while raising Functional Threshold Power

If you read my stuff much you'll find out quickly I'm a big fan of training in the sweet spot. The way I see it, I want to get maximum benefit from my limited training time. I don't want to go too easy and get less training effect than optimal; and I don't want to go too hard and compromise my ability to recover in time for more training.

That's why I take great satisfaction in what I was able to do today. I wanted a lighter day of training. Yesterday's ride put me well into negative TSB territory. Today I felt like I could handle more but the motivation wasn't really there. Know how that feels? Yeah.

What I ended up with was a solid hour at the low end of my Threshold level. Just perfect. A day with low enough TSS to allow for some recovery but high enough stress to still qualify as Sweet Spot training.

Peak 60min (231 watts):
	Duration: 1:00:00
	Work: 830 kJ
	TSS: 76.3 (intensity factor 0.873)
	Norm Power:	231
	VI: 1
	Distance: 30.565 km
