Recovery and clean up

Five of us sat in the best Mexican restaurant in Illinois yesterday having a post-race meal and discussed plans for doing a recovery ride today.

We had plenty of options out on the table so it was hard to agree on which was best. Plus there were others who were also planning to ride. We'd have to check with them later and see if we could come up with a plan to suit everyone. One thing we all did agree on, however, was that bad weather would be enough to put a stopper to this recovery ride plan altogether.

If the blinding flash of lightening hadn't jolted me awake this morning at 5am, the deafening clap of thunder that followed certainly would have. That particular storm lasted about an hour. It didn't stop raining until sometime in the middle of the afternoon.

I don't think we were really all that serious about getting together for a recovery ride anyway.

As for me, well I didn't really need one. All that time trialing only netted me a little over 125 TSS on the day. Granted that was a bigger 125 than I'm used to by virtue of having raised my FTP; but my legs really were just fine today. So I put in a little over an hour of easy tempo on the trainer. It wasn't a bad way to pass part of a rainy afternoon.

Fortunately the rain did end sometime mid-afternoon, too. I used the break to put a thorough clean on my bike. Yesterday's dusty and gravelly roads made a mess, but nothing a bit of soap and water wouldn't take care of.

So now I'm fully recovered and my bike fairly gleams. I'm all ready for some of that warm sunny spring riding weather we've been waiting all winter for.

I forgot to tell you that Eriksen is most likely one of the sexiest (non-carbon) bikes I've ever seen. Ciao Bella!!!

I like that non-carbon

I like that non-carbon exception you slipped in there. You know of a sexier bike? One that happens to be made of carbon? :)

No question your one-off Giant is one gorgeous ride.

Let's go ride 'em.
