Well now how about that. It's been a couple of weeks since I got over my cold; but it has taken until about now to get my watts back. And come back they did. With a vengeance.
A simple warm up, and then right into it. My legs felt great starting out. Five minutes later, still OK. Twenty-five after than, no big deal! I started to think I set the bar a little low for myself today.

It's almost embarrassing feeling good and strong for a full 30-minute interval. This is Monday? I need more Mondays like this.
Hi, Whats your FTP?
Hi,
Whats your FTP?
Not as high as I would like
I have two simple non-answers to that question:
The first answer is fairly universal, isn't it? I mean, if I could climb l'Alpe d'Huez faster than anyone else, I think I'd still want more. Who wouldn't?
I need to test. Short of testing, I'm pretty much in the dark. Before yesterday's workout I would have guesstimated my FTP to be around 260 W. I have it set in WKO+ at 265 W, where it's been since this time last year.
The fact that I wasn't really pushing the envelope completing yesterday's 30-minute interval at just a stone's throw from 260 W tells me my FTP has changed for the better. How much for the better? Only testing will tell.

More info....
I was going to post up some data I have collected over the years, with some subjective observations...2-old may or may not want me to share that information (so I won't).
Suffice to say that he is a sand-bagging SOB. His FTP will be much higher than 265 watts when he finally gets around to testing (if he ever shares that info.)
Knowing him my entire life, I can tell you that he does not like to brag (and never does). For 2-old to accurately state his FTP would probably feel a lot like bragging to him...he is VERY strong!...regardless of his age.
Old data is bad data
There you go disrespecting your elders...
OK seriously, thanks for the compliment. That was a compliment, wasn't it? :)
No doubt you're referring to old Monod CP test data. To that I can only reply:
The most recent real data I have to rely on is either a workout I did last year, a 30 minute TT where Average Power was 263 W, or the Sainte Genevieve RR last September where 1 hour AP was in the low 260's.
Sandbagging? My most recent data suggests not.
Then again, my most recent data is admittedly old data. It's time for a good throw-down.

Any one got a....
Power meter you'd be willing to let go for say... little to nothing? I always see this data posted by 2 young and I've been very interested to see what kinda power I got in these legs of mine. But lord knows I don't have a grand to throw away on one...
Would be interesting...
I have some predictions about your power...
We could probably arrange for some testing for you, but the data would have little value....the real value of a power meter is the long term quantitative monitoring it provides.
Certainly, if we tested you, you would show very big sprint wattages, but you do not need a power meter to tell you that you are strong...the people you ride with can tell you that much.
SRM for sale
If you're really serious about training with power, G, I now have an SRM for sale. I just got my new bike and put a new SRM crank on it. That leaves me with one extra. They aren't inexpensive, but they're the gold standard for on-bike power measurement.

Well depends
How serious I am depends on how expensive it really is. Shoot me an email. It's gsteinmetz, one of those a's with a circle around it, then bennemedia, then one of those period things, and then com, and we'll discuss this in further detail. Thanks!
