I am well on my way to a record week for training!
That really is not saying all that much, though. As some may understand, 2008 for me (so far) has been more about getting well, caring for my family, and working. With these shifting priorities, riding time has suffered...No...that is putting it mildly, it got pushed so far behind the "back burner" that it fell off the back of the stove and got lost in the dust-bunnies.
Like I was saying, I have made considerable progress this week towards the goal of spending more time in the saddle. It is not much, but it is a lot more than previous weeks. I feel good to be turning things around and heading in the right direction.
Last night was another trainer ride. You probably also know that we received a bit of white last night...not as much as 2-old, but about 4 inches. The blowing snow was more than enough to keep me indoors on the trainer.
I reached in the hat, and drew out "steady state". This is a really crummy workout where I get on and ride in a moderate to easy gear for the duration...If I had to guess, I was pushing a wattage right around the upper end of the "Tempo" range...but without electronics...who can tell for sure. And honestly, I do not really care...I suffered a little, I breathed a lot, I produced a bunch of sweat, and felt great when I was done!
The way my 2008 has been going...I am very happy to post up here and brag about the fact that I actually got to spend some time on my bike. I say, "brag" because it almost feels like I am bragging. I miss it (riding)...do not take it for granted!
Hope everyone can figure out a way to spend some happy time on a bike this weekend!
