I have had a few problems lately...this entire year really. Between sickness, playing catch-up at work, bad weather, and simply enjoying more of my family, I have (as a result) spent less time making good memories on my bike.
I have also managed to have less interesting bike-related things to share here on my blog. I have no lack of passion for riding....so what better way to fix the lack of content I generate, than to rip off someone else's and present it?
I give you the "Quotes of the day". I will try to come up with at least one decent bike related quote to share daily. Perhaps you will find some interesting or entertaining.
"Some people pay a thousand dollars for a tattoo. This scar cost me twenty grand."
From: Matt Hoffman (BMXer)
"Put me back on my bike."
From: Tom Simpson...his last words. Tom died during the Tour de France shortly after collapsing and falling from his bike (due to exhaustion) on the slopes of Mont Ventoux on July 13, 1967. Amphetamines, alcohol, and Mont Ventoux proved to be a fatal combination on that hot day.
Some More
"When I see an adult on a bicycle, I do not despair for the future of the human race."
- H.G. Wells
"Bicycle riding as little as three miles a day will improve your sex life."
- Dr. Franco Antonini
"For city bicycling to catch on we need a revolution in our society's infrastructure. Right now a city rider needs to be a road warrior, and the bike needs to be cheap and ugly so it won't get stolen. That's not a bike friendly culture."
- Gary Fisher
"Bicycling is a big part of the future. It has to be. There is something wrong with a society that drives a car to work out in a gym."
- Bill Nye
Those are good
Those are all good ones.
Outstanding
Another quote
"The best rides are the ones where you bite off much more than you can chew--and live through it."--Doug Bradbury
Below is photo of the tom Simpson memorial near top of Ventoux, where he died.
Very Cool.
I have seen photos many times, but never photos actually taken by the person who is presenting them.
Some day, I would really like to experience this climb...hopefully with better results than Tom had. I have been warned many times that of all the big climbs, this one in particular should never be under-estimated. I can not imagine attempting to "race" up it.
Good Idea
Good to get a few quotes to lighten up the day. Sit at work day dreaming about my next ride everyday so these types of posts give me some more incentive to get out there.
Thanks
I do not know how long I will be able to sustain this, but I will try to give you at least one good one to read every day...we shall see.
"Bicycle riding as little as
"Bicycle riding as little as three miles a day will improve your sex life."
I like that one and by H.G. Wells? cool
Although I understand that cycling as much 200 miles a day can ruin your sex life
