Pete fell out and who was left? Repeat.
Pete and Repeat were sitting in a boat. Pete fell out and who was left? Repeat.
My father used to drill us with that little joke as kids. Repeat, repeat, repeat.
This week has been all about force and power. You know it's a tough training week when your coach tells you in advance that at least next week is a light recovery week. We've done everything we possibly could to explode the quads this week. Hills, leg presses, more hills, plyometrics, more and more hills, threshold rides, more and more and more hills, and then hill repeats.
So, how am I feeling as I near the end of this heavy week? Awesome. I feel freakin' awesome. I actually feel like I'm at a peak (which I'm not even close to) and can just hammer and hammer. Last nights climbs of Orrville, Old Eatherton, Wild Horse Creek, Smith School, and Clayton were nothing. Didn't feel gassed at all. In fact, I climbed most of them in the small chainring up front, but in the middle of the cassette in the back. I wish I could bottle this feeling because it's strong right now.
What's the secret? Don't know. Last week, I was lukewarm about my efforts because I just didn't feel good on the bike. This week, totally different story. It's an excellent reminder of how life comes at you. Sometimes it's difficult and seemingly endless, while a week later you'll feel unbeatable.
We all know the cycle repeats itself and soon enough, I be back in the lows but preparing to get back to the highs. Repeat, repeat, repeat.
Feeling Strong!
Congrats. I've not experienced it, but I can imagine how great an "Hey, I can climb ANYTHING" feeling would be. I wasn't able to ride for the past 3 days, so I was rested for today's 6-hour ride. I felt good, but not invincible. Enjoy it. Conditioning and confidence, like hills, go up and down.
