Only if they paid me - Giro d'Italia video

I took advantage of a rare day - sunny and warm - yesterday to catch up on yard work and to get in a quick ride. While I was out riding (You really don't want to hear about the yard work, do you?) I ran into a guy, Bert, from the ICCC team, whose conversation helped the time go by. Five tough climbs come and gone in a flash.

Looks like more rain today. Good thing I'm planning to take it easy, relatively speaking. 50 or 60 TSS is a walk in the park on the trainer.

Ride in the rain? Why? It isn't like they pay me to ride my bike. Even if they did, I'm not sure I'd want the job. Just have a look at this video from the Giro d'Italia yesterday. The way these guys fight for wheels winding up for the sprint ... not for the faint of heart.

The crash

I don't have a link to it but there was a pretty big peleton cash in the Giro the other day.

As to riding in the rain - remember your recent epic post?

I find a large proportion of my "epic" rides are in lousy weather. Something about being out when normal people are on the couch perhaps. It sucks to start in bad weather but quickly improves

I can relate

I can relate to riding in the garbage, and how it always seems more fun than it sounds from the couch. I used to post up a lot of pictures of the junk I rode in.

I could say that I am too big of a wimp to ride those conditions these days, or I could say that I can no longer afford to replace bike parts at the rate I did in past years...either would be true.

Do you mean this one?

Imagine how frightful it would be to hit the tarmac at those speeds knowing there are a hundred guys behind you going just as fast.
