One more day of winter

What an odd Easter we've had here today. The interweb weather thingy said snow was a long shot, but that by late in the morning temperatures would head up as the sun started to break through.

Not so. It's been snow showering on and off all day.

My window of opportunity for riding was in the morning. Turns out that was a good thing because if I'd waited on the weather to change for the better I'd still be waiting.

4:58pm - It just started snowing again. Hard. Weird.

What I had on my training plan today was at least a 2 hour ride. Something that would generate around 150 TSS. That's no pushover ride, but it would also leave a little in the tank for tomorrow while driving TSB well below zero.

The nice thing (no, there aren't many) about riding a trainer is you can control your wattages pretty well and design a workout to do just about anything you want. I set up a workout plan for 3x20 minute intervals, 2x10 minute intervals, some semi-recovery time in between all that and warm-up and cool-down periods. It all added up to 2 hours.

I remember the days when an hour on the trainer was about my limit. It's funny how at the end of a long winter - It's still snowing, so I can call this winter. - 2 hours on the trainer isn't that much of a stretch. Our weather had better improve. I really don't want to get to the point of feeling like 3 hours on the trainer's not so bad.

5:03pm - The snow stopped and the sun is shining. Again, weird, but I'll take it. Winter be gone!

One last thing. Did you watch Cancellara snatch victory from the sprinters in San Remo? Impressive only begins to describe, a virtual replay of last year's Stage 3 Tour de France win, except better.
