The next event on my docket is the Tour of Hermann Timetrial. It takes place tomorrow, Saturday. There is also a Road Race on Sunday, but I didn't get the word to register soon enough and the field filled up. So I'm doing the TT only.
Hopefully I learned something from Wednesday's timetrial, like maybe how to manage my power output a little better. Of course the weather played a big factor on Wednesday. Hopefully tomorrow won't be nearly so windy as that.
Training wise... what could I really do? With only two days in between events, I figured the best thing to do was to resume normal training for one day and then take a relatively light day the next. That should ensure I'm reasonably recovered.
So yesterday I set out to do about an hour and a half on the road. I aimed my bike up a few good hills to be sure I got a decent workout in. After about an hour I started to get the feeling I might be doing too much and that I might want to dial it back a little. When I got home and checked the power file I found that I actually had not done too much. In fact I'd done less than I expected, TSS wise.
In a manner of speaking you could say it must therefore have been the right amount of training stress - more than the legs wanted but less than the brain asked for.
All I did today was a short, low intensity spin on the rollers. It was all I could do to stay awake as I watched a steady rain falling outside the window.
