It's been all to long since I've had a full weekend of great riding. It was nice to finally get one, I've been jonesing, feining, straight craving some good trail riding. I got that on Saturday.
I headed down to the lake to ride with Kevin Sellers, one of the guys who raced with us last weekend. He took me to a private trail, with all kinds of awesome stunts. A tetter totter, a wooden berm, some dirt berms, a giant tree ride, and all kinds of jumps, hucks, and other cool obstacles. We then headed over to Honeyrun, one of the local trail systems. Kevin had just built up his SS Fisher Rig 29r, and was smokin fast yesterday. I was on my old school SS Hardrock, and I was wishin I had the Monkey with the bigger wheels. The rogue rocks were in abunance on this trails, and the smaller wheels just didn't roll over them as well. He gave me a workout and we finished out the day with some good grub, brew, and live music at on of the local joints.
Today, as Unit said, we had a good road ride in Jeff. I was super stoked to be riding the new digs he built up for me. This ride is slick, and smokin fast. I had a good time riding today, it was a pretty fast ride, and I threw in some hill intervals for added pain. My legs where pretty worn out from riding all week, and yesterday's ride. Unit surged and dropped me more than once, and my legs just couldn't catch his wheel fast enough when he did. He was riding strong, but I could tell the winter has taken its poll on him too. It's taken it toll on us all.
It was an awesom weekend. I was glad to get out and ride with some friends again. I've been riding solo most of the time this winter, with hardly any trail riding. I was so happy to ride Honeyrun, the trails where in perfect shape. The weather around here has been crap. They cancelled our race at Landahl on Saturday. There's more rain in the forcast for tommorow too. I just can't get enough of it, [insert sarcasm here]. At least Springs around the corner...
