Mondays are like this

Mark EWERS's picture

It must be Monday. We had one of those days here when any cyclist in his or her right mind would get out and ride. Me, I'm stuck in the office doing email and phone calls.

Not that it really matters. I've been sort of stuck riding one-handed for a while. Sort of. Remember that night ride a little over a week ago where I said I biffed and gotten thoroughly shaken up?

Well the good news is the collarbone is fine. I can still feel it if I move just so. I just try not to move that way and everything's fine. Everything else is pretty much fine. That is, everything except my right hand.

That's the hand that had trouble picking up a beer after the ride. Here I am over a week later and it's still hurting as bad as the morning after. My road bars are pretty much the perfect instrument for irritating the injury. I'm starting to think I might have cracked a bone in thre somewhere.

Sorry To Hear

That's really not cool. Im out from riding right now due to weather, and the fact my body is toast. Last week put a hurting on me, and I'm definently feeling it these last few days. Hope that hand gets better, doesn't sound like it's doing so well. Is there any swelling or discoloration? Get you a tuning fork, and hit that thing where it hurts. If you have a crack you'll feel it, and it'll hurt like hell. Had the same thing when I had that Dakota 29r break in half on me. I had a small crack on one of my chest bones. It wasn't pleasent but shit happens.

Got both

Yeah I have both selling and some bad color. I knew I had the swelling but the discoloration I hadn't noticed. I was at a meeting last night and one of the guys there noticed the bruising and asked me what I'd done to it. Maybe I'm color blind on top of it all.

Anyway, thanks for the kind words. It'll get better in time. I just have to remember not to fall on it for a while.

I just happen to have one of those laying around....I like to be able to do self diagnosis. We can check it out next time you are around. Of course, knowing that it is in fact cracked will not help matters at all.

That was a nasty tumble, I was a bit concerned when you went down, and was already trying to figure out how I was going to get you out of the woods....I was sure your collar bone was crushed. I guess that is the good we can focus on...it could have been much worse.

Take care, and heal up...a few more days off will not hurt a guy like you at all!

My hand is better suited to

My hand is better suited to the eating kind of fork than any other kind. I think I'll stick with that.
