At least a very small fraction...
This is a shot of the new section of Highway 50 west of town. This stretch is 4 miles long and about 8 lanes wide (eventually will be 4 lanes with paved shoulders).
For the past three or four weeks we have been running our rides on different routes that dump us on Hwy 50. In the past this was not possible because of the traffic and lack of shoulders on 50. Now we have this sea of pavement all to ourselves. We can ride for several miles with very little concern for traffic.
It has been fun to explore new routes. We have known about these wonderful roads for years, but unless we wanted to do an out and back, they were unaccessible (you could ride out to 50 but then you had to do a 180 and come straight back). I will grant you that this image is not too spectacular, but the roads that lead to this place take you past some views that my camera phone just could not do justice.
We really have it good here in central Missouri. The roads are good, and the views are wonderful. It is only made better by having new route options.
Unfortunately, this road will be open to the other couple million people that helped pay for it. Until then, we plan on enjoying it a few more times.
