a Mechanical ended my workout today

I guess I was due. I can't remember the last time I had a flat on the road. I remember one from a few years back, a pinch flat inflicted by a rock that had no business in the middle of the road. Stupid rock. Surely I've had one since. I don't remember.

I'll remember today's flat though. It happened about 20 minutes into my workout. On my rollers.

At first I wondered how my legs could go from nearly warmed up to stone cold dead in a matter of 10 minutes. It got so bad I stopped to take a break and catch my breath. I had just topped off the tires before the workout and all was well for 10 minutes or so. It had to be my legs. I was sure of it.

I remounted and... nothing doing. Like pedaling in sand. I gave them a squeeze. The front had maybe 30 psi in it. So I went for a walk.

When I came back to change the tire I found that tire had an old cut that had evidently allowed the casing to flex enough that it eventually split. The edge of the split was just sharp enough to cut the tube.

Interesting!

I'm glad I never said it was

I'm glad I never said it was just you. I always had in my mind that one of my tires would eventually go. They were both old, really old. I didn't really think it would be the front though, not being the driving wheel. OTOH it does have a lot of pressure and flex and it is driven, albeit by the roller.

Aye, it sure does. The cut in mine is not quite that long though.
