Today was an odd day in terms of weather. Sixty degrees never felt so cool. Perhaps it was the cloudy sky and the perception that it would start raining again any moment. It really made for some phenomenal conditions in my opinion, and it was pretty easy to stay comfortable.
Joe and I met up at his house and rolled out to the YMCA to pick up Dave. Dave is training for his annual event where by he swims n laps then bikes n miles where n equals his age in years. Neat concept if you are a swimmer. Personally my swimming ability lies somewhere between that of a cat in a burlap sack and a stone. I am not sure how many years he has been doing this event, but last year's 50/50 was the first I knew of and I think he rode a bit more than 50 for what it is worth.
Today we were all a bit tired from previous events. Dave just finished a swim, Joe put in some long miles yesterday, and I had a pretty good training block this week. We set off on a laid back pace and enjoyed the conditions. I did not even bother to ask anyone the distance or pace (didn't care). I know that we rode about 3 hours and had a good time.
Toward the end of the ride we decided to ride down to the ford as we had figured that the water would be over the road. I decided to snap a couple photos. No big deal, it has been much higher than this recently, but some of the photos looked sort of neat.
wetness
You guys must have gotten a lot more rain than we did.
So the ride is from a rear wheel dip into the ford, then around the county to arrive once again back at the ford for a front wheel dip. Then home for Mexican food, or pizza, or Italian...
