The kick in the butt I needed

My wife is the greatest. We woke up this morning to the sound of rain again. The school year is over (at least as far as Sunday School is concerned) so my Sunday morning was a lot freer than usual. I had originally intended to use the void in the schedule for some ride/training time.

My lovely wife heard my thoughts pondering the suck that is me not being able to ride in the rain and snapped out, "you know you used to ride in the snow!" My younger self being harder, tougher, and generally more resolved to enjoy a ride was now laughing at his elder, softer, lazier self. That concept was basically the boot kicking my ass out the door toward my bike that I needed.

I called up Joe who squirmed but eventually agreed to join me. Fifteen minutes later we met up and started our hopefully-less-than-epic ride.

I need not tell you the sky was gray and the streets were wet. Ride temperature was in the 50s the whole ride but dropping rapidly during the last 5 miles. I mention the temperature because I found it really odd that I could see my breath today (must be the humidity?)

We rode for several hours and had a great time. Occasionally we found a slight increase in humidity (it would be overstating it to say it rained), but the ride lasted about 15 minutes longer than what would have been perfect. We got poured on for the last 5 miles...

I would rather post up whining about getting rained on than, not post up because I rode inside instead! My wife is the greatest!
