I was dog-tired last night, so rather than pour myself a stiff drink and go to bed, I went out to ride.

I hit the trails for a short, but high intensity lap in attempt to make myself sleep better last night. When I arrived at the lot, I saw Jason preparing to ride. I had originally planned on doing the CX practice race with the group, but I was early, and Jason was leaving for the trails....That was what I needed.
I started out about 5 minutes behind him, but figured he was not riding hard. I figured that if I held a race pace, I could catch him. That was pretty fun. I guess I miss riding fast, but my body sure doesn't. It hurt like hell, and I am obviously out of shape (and on the wrong bike).
So I come out of the woods and start packing my junk up to leave, when others start arriving. I did not have lights so I was not going to be able to ride in the woods, but I could do some CX practice with the growing group.
I rolled up the hill and started riding laps....every bit of joy and pleasure I derived from riding in the woods was quickly sapped during the few laps I did on the CX course. I should point out that this bike is not set up for riding in the saddle at all. The saddle is low and basically just there for balance as I ride technical stuff.
So after doing a couple (3 or 4) laps standing 80% of the time (as I had done on the trials), my legs were flipping me the bird big time. That is what you get when you bring the wrong equipment for the ride...OTOH I wanted to make myself more tired, and that worked!
Oh, and the picture? I was playing around on the Oakley site (see link to the right). You can make your own custom Oakley glasses any way you like (almost). It is a great way to kill 15 or so minutes. You can even get custom etching on the lenses...

Thats what the weather's been like these last few days. I did manage to get out and enjoy some riding at Cosmo Park last night. The trails were nice and tacky. Didn't have one bit of mud on me when I was done, the trails where perfect. I think my glasses would say "Unfortunate". That seems pretty fitting for my riding lately...
