I rode

Mark EWERS's picture

I did. I rode today. I'm glad I knocked off just a little early too, because our weather cycled through clear, threatening, clear, threatening until it finally landed on cold rain.

The wind was constant throughout. I route led me right into the teeth of it during the flat portion. That slowed me down a little, but also it gave me just a little extra incentive to push on.

At the end of the flat run I turned onto a long uphill stretch, and then turned again at the top. Now I was up high and sailing with the wind.

You know what's exhilarating? That perfect harmony of wind, watts, and a slight uphill grade. There's nothing quite like rolling along at 25 mph in silence but for your tires singing on the road surface.

I don't know all you've been through, brother, but I do recognize the significance of post titled "I rode" when I see it. I'm very happy for you. Best wishes for steady progress on your return to riding.

I know that sound well!

I have spoken of it many times, but I often assumed that few people knew of the harmony of which I spoke. It is a sweet tune!

I love that wonderful sound of tires singing to their mating surface with the road, and sometimes if I listen really closely I can hear the wind churning ever so softly in my spokes.

Me jealous! Great news!
