How to have a good ride

Start off with a good day playing and enjoying the family (had a great Easter egg hunt with the kids this morning). Then get some chores done around the house. Then, lay around until you get bored and feel as if your Sunday is being wasted (ideally this phase should last only minutes). Now, head out for a ride, preferably with a good friend or two.

For those that want to really enjoy the ride, you should select riders that are slower than you to ride with (this will pump your ego). If you find yourself in a situation where there is no one slower than you, find someone faster than you, but he just got done riding a century in windy conditions.

With a riding partner like this, you are almost guaranteed to feel like you had a good ride.

G-wiz and I met up for a little road riding today, and he was recovering from a spirited century he completed yesterday. He lacked that "snap" that he typically displays (which was perfect for me).

We rode about 30 miles today. The weather oscillated between cloudy and sunny, windy and windier, and snow and not. It is really interesting to be riding in 40 degree weather and have giant snow flakes in the air (like when I rolled out of my driveway). By the end of the ride the sights were much nicer. Looking at these pictures, you would not think it was so dang cold out there.

Thanks for the ride G. You are riding strong!

A good day

Sounds like you guys had a good day out there. Those roads look really inviting, especially to what we saw here.

And they really look good compared to the scenery I saw from my trainer. !!

It was.

It was a good day...actually a great day. The scenery was pretty nice, and there were actually a few drivers that shot me a wave, smile, or nod as they passed.

Perhaps better weather could have resulted in an even better experience, but what we had gives me something to talk about.

I noticed for the first time today that some of the clouds in the distance appear to be dropping precipitation. That certainly would be consistent with my observations yesterday (sunny one moment and snowing hard the next).
